Argentina Poverty Rate Rises to 32.3% in First Half of 2026

Buenos Aires, September 28, 2026: Argentina’s poverty rate reached 32.3% in the first half of 2026, according to the country’s national statistics agency.

Millions affected

The latest measurement covers 31 urban agglomerations. Around 9.7 million people were below the poverty line, while about 2.25 million were classified as living in extreme poverty.

Increase from late 2025

The poverty rate rose by 4.1 percentage points from the second half of 2025, while extreme poverty increased to 7.5%.
