The acquisition was announced through GamesPress and puts 7 Raven Studios under the Piko Interactive umbrella. Financial terms and other transaction details were not included in the information available for this report.

Why the 7 Raven Studios Acquisition Matters

For Piko Interactive, the deal strengthens its connection to active game development alongside its long-running work with retro video games, digital distribution and gaming intellectual property. Piko says its catalog includes more than 180 titles and that it distributes games through physical cartridges as well as platforms including Steam, GOG, Bleem.net, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation Network.

7 Raven Studios has developed games across console, PC and mobile platforms. Its official website currently highlights titles including Teppo and The Secret Ancient City, Shootvaders: The Beginning, W.A.R.P., Escape String, Treasures of The Roman Empire and Last Beat Enhanced.

A Partnership With Existing History

The two companies are not new to working together. Piko Interactive previously published Ghost Sweeper, developed by 7 Raven Studios. The game launched on Steam in July 2016 and combines action, adventure, platforming and puzzle elements. Piko also published Broken Circle for Game Boy Advance, a 7 Raven Studios RPG built around Norse mythology.

What Comes Next for Piko Interactive and 7 Raven Studios?

The acquisition could give Piko Interactive greater control over the development pipeline while allowing 7 Raven Studios to continue building games within a larger publishing and intellectual-property ecosystem. The companies have yet to provide, in the information reviewed for this report, a detailed roadmap explaining which upcoming projects will be affected by the acquisition.

7 Raven Studios’ current portfolio shows a focus on compact, genre-driven experiences, ranging from puzzle platformers and beat ’em ups to shooters and adventure games. Its official site also lists support for modern console platforms alongside PC and mobile development.

Piko Interactive’s Broader Gaming Strategy

Piko Interactive has built its identity around retro gaming, including physical releases, plug-and-play systems, digital distribution and ownership or licensing of classic entertainment properties. The company is also preparing for Gamescom 2026, where it says it will showcase Bleemcast in the Retro Area.

Bringing a development studio into that ecosystem potentially gives Piko another route to create new games while continuing to work with its established retro catalog.

Bottom Line

Piko Interactive’s acquisition of 7 Raven Studios is a significant development for both companies. It combines Piko’s publishing, retro-gaming and intellectual-property business with a studio experienced in creating games for multiple platforms. More details about the acquisition’s financial terms, management structure and future game projects are expected to clarify the long-term impact of the deal.
