New York City, September 28, 2026: A Tesla Model Y crashed into scaffolding in Midtown Manhattan, killing the passenger and injuring the driver.
Police investigation
NYPD said the vehicle also struck a bus stop and mailbox before coming to a stop. The driver was arrested on charges including vehicular manslaughter and driving while impaired.

The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
