WASHINGTON: U.S. forces are preparing to leave their final bases in Iraq, completing a withdrawal agreed in 2024 and ending a major phase of the American military presence there.

Reuters reported that U.S. forces are scheduled to leave their remaining bases by Wednesday. The departure follows more than two decades of U.S. military involvement in Iraq.

U.S. officials have emphasized Iraq’s responsibility for its own security while continuing cooperation through diplomatic and security channels.
