STARBASE, Texas: SpaceX’s Starship reached orbit for the first time during its latest test flight, marking a major milestone for the company’s reusable spacecraft program.

The September 28 flight was closely watched because Starship is being developed for future missions involving the Moon and other destinations. The vehicle is also central to NASA’s plans for lunar exploration.

SpaceX continues to conduct test flights to gather data on the spacecraft and its launch system. The company says the long-term goal is a rapidly reusable transportation system.
