October 19, 2026: USDA announces a high-risk Kayem Foods meat and poultry recall. Learn how to identify affected packages and follow official safety guidance.

Why were the products recalled?

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a Class I recall on October 17, 2026, involving approximately 1,584,361 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products. A customer complaint about unusually warm deliveries prompted an investigation into temperature deviations in a warehouse cooler. Inadequate refrigeration can allow harmful bacteria to multiply even in products that have already been cooked.

Which products are affected?

The recall includes specified products manufactured between approximately March 31 and October 7, 2026 and distributed to retailers and food-service customers in the United States and Hong Kong. Look for USDA establishment numbers EST. M/P 7839, EST. P 20935A or EST. M 9520, then check the brand, UPC, lot code and use-by date against the complete FSIS recall list. Not every Kayem product is necessarily affected.

What consumers should do

Do not eat a product identified in the official recall, even if it looks and smells normal. Return it to the place of purchase or dispose of it safely. Seek medical advice if symptoms occur after eating an affected product. As of the initial recall notice, authorities had not confirmed illnesses associated with the products.

Why the recall matters

Ready-to-eat foods may be consumed without reheating, making correct temperature control during storage and distribution essential. Foodborne pathogens do not always cause noticeable changes in smell or appearance. Consumers should rely on exact official product identifiers rather than viral photographs or broad claims that an entire brand is unsafe.

Official sources and updates

See the USDA FSIS recall notice and Kayem Foods statement for current product lists and company guidance. The recall may be updated as the investigation continues.
