NAGOYA, Japan — India secured two squash bronze medals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on October 1 after both the men’s and women’s teams lost their semifinals. The women’s team went down 1-2 to Hong Kong, China, while the men’s team lost 1-2 to Malaysia. Both semifinal defeats automatically secured bronze medals for the Indian teams.

Women’s team takes bronze

India’s women’s team had entered the semifinal stage after a strong run through the competition. The defeat against Hong Kong, China, ended the gold-medal route but still placed India on the podium. The result added another team medal to a campaign that has included strong performances by several individual players.

Men’s team also reaches podium

The men’s team faced Malaysia and lost the semifinal 1-2. News On AIR confirmed that the bronze medal was India’s reward for reaching the final four. The result helped India’s overall medal tally rise to 65.

Squash has been one of India’s regular medal sports at major Asian competitions. The current team results continue that tradition while giving younger players experience in high-pressure continental competition.

More medals still possible

India’s wider medal campaign continued through October 1 with sailing, wrestling and archery medals, while hockey and cricket reached finals. Official competition information is available from Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
