Pune: The continuing Maharashtra Public Service Commission agitation has entered a more complicated phase, with students protesting at multiple locations in Pune and different groups taking contrasting positions on the future examination pattern.
Protests have been reported around SM Joshi Bridge, Shastri Road and Alka Talkies-Tilak Chowk. The broader demands include concerns about alleged examination irregularities, recruitment delays and calls for accountability within MPSC.
Objective versus descriptive pattern
A key point of disagreement among aspirants is whether forthcoming examinations should remain objective or move to a descriptive format. This divide matters because candidates prepare for years around a specific examination structure, and major changes can affect strategy, coaching and perceived fairness.
NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar spoke with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and urged dialogue with protesting students. Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol has also said the government is taking a positive approach towards the demands.
Police notices add another dimension
Pune Police have separately served notices to around 100 people connected with the protests, according to media reports. The allegations and demands made by protesters remain contested matters and should not be presented as established wrongdoing without official findings.
