Kerala Borewell Rig Accident: Two Migrant Workers Killed After Tractor Overturns Onto House

KASARAGOD: Two migrant workers were killed after a tractor-mounted borewell drilling rig reportedly lost control while descending a steep slope and overturned onto a house at Varakkad in Kerala’s Kasaragod district.

Family inside house escaped

Police identified the workers as Devender from Madhya Pradesh and Manasar from Chhattisgarh. The family inside the house escaped unharmed, while the workers were taken to hospital and declared dead.

Police are examining the circumstances that caused the vehicle to lose control.

Heavy equipment requires route assessment

Moving drilling rigs and other heavy machinery on steep or narrow roads requires careful assessment of vehicle condition, gradient and load stability. The investigation should clarify whether mechanical, road or operational factors contributed.
