BERLIN: Greece produced one of the biggest results of the latest UEFA Nations League round by beating Germany 1-0 in Germany.

Dimitris Kourbelis scored the only goal after his effort took a deflection, giving Greece a historic victory over the four-time world champions.

UEFA reported that the result was Greece’s first victory against Germany in the Nations League era and one of the standout results from Matchday 2.

Germany controlled parts of the contest but could not find an equaliser as Greece defended its lead through the closing stages.

The result gives Greece valuable points in League A, while Germany will have to respond in its next Nations League fixtures.
