Asian Games 2026: Vithya Ramraj Breaks PT Usha’s 400m Hurdles Mark With Bronze

Asian Games 2026 athletics: Vithya Ramraj broke PT Usha’s long-standing Indian record in the women’s 400m hurdles while winning bronze at Aichi-Nagoya.

Ramraj clocked 54.75 seconds, improving on Usha’s 55.42-second mark from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. The performance gave India another significant athletics milestone.

The medal was part of a productive athletics stretch for India, with distance running and field events also producing podium finishes. Ramraj later contributed to India’s women’s 4x400m relay campaign.
