Nagoya: India has been assured of a table tennis medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 after Manush Shah and Diya Chitale reached the mixed doubles semifinals on Friday.
India defeat Hong Kong pair
The Indian duo defeated Hong Kong’s world No. 4 pair Doo Hoi Kem and Wong Chun Ting 3-1 in the quarterfinal. The game scores were 11-6, 13-15, 11-9 and 11-5.
Semifinal against China
Shah and Chitale will face China’s Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin in the semifinal. Their place in the last four guarantees India at least a bronze medal in the event.
Important milestone for Indian table tennis
The result marks India’s first table tennis medal at the ongoing Aichi-Nagoya Games. It is also India’s second Asian Games mixed doubles medal after Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra won bronze in Jakarta.
