US Consumer Sentiment Falls to Four-Month Low in September

Washington, September 28, 2026: US consumer sentiment fell to a four-month low of 48.1 in September, according to the University of Michigan survey reported by Reuters.

Inflation concerns rise

The index declined from 51.7 in August. Consumers’ one-year inflation expectations increased to 4.6% from 4.0%.

Household outlook

The survey found weaker views of current and expected personal finances. The findings point to continuing concerns about purchasing power and prices.
