Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is reportedly considering combining Electronic Arts (EA) with Savvy Games Group, potentially creating one of the world’s biggest gaming companies.
The reported proposal would bring major EA franchises such as EA Sports FC, Battlefield, Madden NFL and The Sims together with Savvy-linked mobile gaming properties including Monopoly Go! and Pokémon GO.
No final merger decision yet
According to Reuters, citing Bloomberg reporting, discussions are still at an early stage and no final decision has been made. Any combination is reportedly unlikely before Savvy completes its planned $6 billion acquisition of Chinese mobile-game company Moonton.
Why the deal could be huge for gaming
A combination could put a vast collection of console, PC, mobile and esports assets under a more unified structure. It would also mark a major change in the way PIF organizes its rapidly expanding gaming investments.
However, a merger of this scale could attract significant antitrust and regulatory scrutiny, particularly because of the concentration of major gaming franchises and businesses under common ownership.
EA is already privately owned by the PIF-led consortium
EA’s acquisition by a consortium led by PIF, alongside Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, officially closed on August 4, 2026. EA said the transaction valued the company at approximately $55 billion.
What happens next?
For now, the EA–Savvy combination remains a proposal under consideration rather than an announced transaction. Gaming fans and the wider industry will be watching for any formal announcement from PIF, EA or Savvy Games.
