Shri Durga Utsav Samiti Felicitates 37 Women from Diverse Fields in Jalna
Save on Diwali Expenses and Support Those in Need, Urges Varsha Pitti
Jalna/Correspondent: Shri Durga Utsav Samiti, Jalna, felicitated 37 accomplished women from various fields at its Nari Shakti Samman ceremony held at Mahesh Bhavan on Sunday, October 18.
Project Chairman Amol Bangad presided over the function. Chief guest and honouree Mrs. Varsha Surendra Pitti, former municipal president Mrs. Sangita Gorantyal, Mrs. Sandhya Dethe, Deputy Chairperson Padma Ajit Mandhane, Poonam Raj Swami and Assistant Police Inspector Aarti Jadhav of Kadim Jalna Police Station were present on the dais.
Those honoured included Varsha Pitti, Sangita Gorantyal, Kajal Patel, Poonam Swami, Sandhya Dethe, Maya Joshi, Padma Mandhane, Nita Kabra, Meenakshi Dad, Anaya Agrawal, Pratibha Shripat, Sanjeevani Khalapure, Sitabai Mohite, Adv. Ashwini Dhannawat, Rasna Dehedkar, Preeti Kachare, Mita Pitti, Bharati Vijaysenani, Sapna Garg, Sunanda Badnapurkar, Adv. Shweta Kothari, Pournima Fofaliya, Kavita Khare, Shobha Vijaysenani, Pooja Bhagat, Jyoti Chordiya, Vaishali Bamb, Sangita Karhale, Assistant Police Inspector Aarti Jadhav, Vrushali Nanavati, Tejal Salve, Engineer Surashree Iyer, Savitridevi Mallawat, Adv. Ratna Dipwal-Yadav and Ms. Shweta Bagdi, among the 37 women felicitated. Mayor Vandana Magare, Manisha Tope and honouree corporator Sushila Danve could not attend due to unavoidable reasons.
Responding to the felicitation, Varsha Pitti drew attention to the prevailing drought conditions. She said celebrations should be marked by sensitivity to those in need. Thrift is an inherent strength of women, she observed, and suggested that families spend less this Diwali—even forgoing the purchase of one sari—and use the savings to help people around them. A small sacrifice, she said, could brighten another family’s Diwali. She appealed to women to share the festival’s joy with the needy. Sangita Gorantyal and Assistant Police Inspector Aarti Jadhav also addressed the gathering.
In his presidential address, convenor Amol Bangad said women are not merely the foundation of their families but also of society’s progress. Women are leading in business, education, social service and every other field, contributing significantly to nation-building. The ceremony, he said, was more than a felicitation: it was a tribute to women’s struggles, confidence and achievements. True respect requires equal rights, opportunities and freedom in decision-making. He called for a society in which every woman feels safe, respected and self-reliant.
Among those present were Sanjaykumar Dad, Damodar Bajaj, Dilip Chechani, Vijay Rathi, Umesh Bajaj, Shlok Agrawal, Dinesh Bhagat, Anand Bamb, Pawan Joshi, Sachin Mohata, Arjun Pitti and Dr. Shivdatt Vijaysenani, alongside numerous citizens and women. Preeti Sawji and Prof. Swapnil Sarda conducted the programme. Adv. Mahesh Dhannawat and Bhushan Yadav proposed the vote of thanks.
