KOLKATA: India’s women’s national football team will play Russia in two international friendlies in Kolkata during the October FIFA women’s international window.

The matches are scheduled for October 8 and October 11 at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan. They will mark the Indian women’s team’s first international matches in Kolkata.

The fixtures are part of India’s continuing programme to provide the women’s national team with international competition and exposure.

Russia will provide a different style of opposition and give India another opportunity to assess players at international level.

The games are expected to attract attention in Kolkata, a city with a long football tradition.
