CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court has restrained authorities from finalising the process for 850 new Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendras in the district without the court’s permission.
185 urban and 665 rural centres affected
The proposed expansion included 185 centres in urban areas and 665 in rural areas. The court intervention came while hearing a petition filed by an association representing existing operators, which has challenged the procedure followed for the expansion.
A division bench issued notices to the state government and other respondents and listed the matter for further hearing on October 28, according to current reporting.
Public-service expansion meets legal scrutiny
Aaple Sarkar centres are important access points for government certificates and citizen services, especially for people who may struggle with fully digital systems. The case therefore involves two public interests: wider service access and a legally compliant selection process.
