An Se-young Makes Asian Games History With Back-to-Back Badminton Gold

Asian Games 2026 badminton: South Korea’s An Se-young has become the first women’s singles player to successfully defend the Asian Games title.

The world No. 1 defeated Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-9 in the final at Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium. An had also won the women’s singles title at the previous Asian Games.

The victory adds another landmark to An’s growing record in international badminton and gives South Korea another major gold medal at Aichi-Nagoya.
