UK to Build New Marine Research Ship for National Sea Monitoring

The UK government has committed up to £115 million to build a new marine research vessel for monitoring Britain’s seas.

The proposed 85-metre ship will accommodate more than 40 people and support marine surveys, fish-stock assessment, seabed mapping and pollution monitoring. The Guardian reported details announced at the Labour conference.

The vessel is intended to combine scientific research with monitoring and rapid response capabilities.
