Sudanese Refugee Arrivals in Chad Surge as Aid Funding Falls Short

N’Djamena, September 28, 2026: The number of Sudanese fleeing to neighbouring Chad has surged sharply as fighting and worsening humanitarian conditions continue, according to the UN refugee agency and Reuters.

Humanitarian pressure

Chad is hosting large numbers of people who have crossed the border seeking safety. Humanitarian agencies say funding is failing to keep pace with growing needs.

Regional impact

The continuing conflict in Sudan is putting additional pressure on neighbouring countries and aid organisations. Food, shelter, healthcare and protection remain key needs for displaced communities.
