Famous Landmarks in Cyprus: UNESCO Sites and Historic Places

Cyprus has a long archaeological and architectural history. UNESCO currently lists three World Heritage properties: Paphos, Choirokoitia and the Painted Churches in the Troodos Region.

Paphos Archaeological Site

Paphos contains important archaeological remains and famous Roman mosaics.

Choirokoitia

Choirokoitia preserves a Neolithic settlement and provides insight into prehistoric life on the island.

Painted Churches of Troodos

The UNESCO property includes ten Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches decorated with frescoes and religious art.

Tombs of the Kings

Near Paphos, the monumental underground tombs are an important archaeological attraction.
