FDA Approves Third Treatment for Rare Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva

Washington, September 28, 2026: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Atebrioz (zilurgisertib) for fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, or FOP.

New treatment option

The FDA listed the September 25 approval among its latest notable drug approvals. FOP is a rare disorder in which soft tissues can progressively turn into bone.
