Want to know when the next Genshin Impact update is? Sticking with a regular six-week schedule, we rarely need to wait for the next livestream to know when a new version is releasing. Livestreams give us more than just a release date though, as they’re also a great source of official banner and event information.
Each new update for Genshin Impact brings new banners to pull on, events to take part in, and there’s usually a main storyline or character quest to sink hours of our time into as well. Not to mention all the updates we get for Miliastra Wonderland, Genius Invokation TCG, and more. The current update is version 6.7 (Luna VIII), the next will be version 7.0, and this page explains everything we know about both the current and next updates in Genshin Impact.

When is the next Genshin Impact update?
The next Genshin Impact update is on Wednesday, August 12. This is the big version 7.0 update that introduces the new region of Snezhnaya. This date was confirmed in a behind the scenes video of Snezhnaya, which also showed off a bit of the region’s snowy terrain, and Aether looking very serious in a new outfit (plus a gun) inside a train. We then got a much better look at Snezhnaya in the dedicated version 7.0 livestream, and yep, looks like the Traveler’s going all Gears of War on us next patch.
When is the next Genshin Impact livestream?
The next Genshin Impact livestream should be on Friday, September 11 if the usual six-week schedule is maintained. This will be the livestream detailing all of the banners and events for version 7.1. Although it’s likely Genshin will stick to this date, livestreams are more prone to delays than proper updates, with things like national Chinese holidays or sensitive dates pushing the stream back to Sundays, or even the next Friday in some cases.
We should officially know by Tuesday, September 8 what date and time the version 7.1 livestream will air.
Genshin Impact 6.7 banners
In Phase 1 of version 6.7, the Genshin Impact banners were Sandrone and Citlali, who ran from July 1 to 21. All of the boosted 4-star characters on their banners were:
- Beidou
- Diona
- Freminet
A new Lightrace Wish banner is also debuting in Phase 1 of version 6.7 (July 1 – 21). It featured five of the characters getting a combat boost in 6.7:
- Yae Miko
- Cyno
- Wriothesley
- Qiqi
- Yumemizuki Mizuki
Plus, all these characters’ signature weapons were included in Lightrace Wish as well. This new banner type shares its wish guarantee count with the Chronicled Wish banner, and seems to be exactly like a Chronicled Wish banner in all but name.
In the current Phase 2 of version 6.7, the Genshin Impact banners are Columbina and Raiden Shogun, running from July 21 to August 11. All of the boosted four-star characters on their banners are:
- Jahoda
- Ororon
- Sethos
Genshin Impact 6.7 events
As well as the Ley Line overflow double-drop period (August 3 -10), there are three events in version 6.7 of Genshin Impact.
Sunny Summer Fontinalia
This permanent event is set in Fontaine and acts as a sort of story quest for Sandrone, as you get her ascension materials for completing it. But as an event, it’s a lot more involved than a traditional story quest. Part of it sees you opening up an aquarium on Wriothesley’s Wingalet ship in a new type of simulation management game, which involves three key mini-games:
- Diving mini-game where you have to find as many high-value fish and items as possible within the time limit, then surface at a designated area.
- The fish and items from the diving mini-game are then used to decorate the aquarium to drum up more interest, and with more interest created, more people visit the aquarium in the shop management mini-game.
- The last mini-game is a basic “fishing” challenge that involves shooting fish to earn points. It’s the most violent-looking fishing I’ve ever seen, even if HoYo is calling those projectiles ‘nets’ and ‘bait’.
As well as the usual rewards like Primogems and Crowns of Insight, Sunny Summer Fontinalia rewards a free copy of Charlotte, and her new outfit. These limited-time rewards are available from July 1 to August 11, but the event’s story is permanent.
Final Long-Range Sightlines
This event sees us firing ‘observation grenades’ at enemies in the distance via a first-person perspective. AKA this is Genshin Impact’s version of Sniper Elite. Rewards include Primogems and level-up materials, with the event running from July 17 to 27.
Dance Dance Easy-Breezy Disco
A four-player co-op dancing rhythm game set in Natlan at the Easybreeze Holiday Resort. Rewards include Primogems and level-up materials, with the event running from July 24 to August 3.
What is new in version 6.7?
The Genshin Impact 6.7 update includes:
- Annual Summer story takes place on the Frost Moon, with permanent areas this time
- Stellar-Conduct, a brand-new Cryo-Electro reaction
- Witch’s Revelation combat boosts: Wriothesley, Yae Miko, Qiqi, Cyno, Beidou, Diona, and Mizuki
- These characters can also use the new Stellar-Conduct reaction
- New outfits for Citlali and Charlotte
- New albums and themes for Repertoire of Myriad Melodies
- New TCG cards added, including Nefer
- You can toggle the option to no longer wait for certain animations and key moments to advance dialogue
- Map improvements (indicator shows what layer of the map you’re on)
Miliastra Wonderland
Here’s what version 6.7 will add to Miliastra Wonderland in Genshin Impact:
- New Summer-inspired outfits
- A new Summer-inspired lobby design
- Raiment Collection event with outfit and Prismatic Crystal rewards
- Starlight Voyage event
- New batch of environment assets
- Added support for customizing object colors and materials
- Improvements to the editor:
- Can now keep the cursor displayed at all times
- Pre-aiming added to the skill editing interface
- Motion control component lets you directly control the movement of objects
Genshin Impact 7.0 banners
In Phase 1 of version 7.0, the Genshin Impact banners are Odette and Arlecchino, who run from August 12 to September 1 (dates TBC). New character Alyosha is one of the boosted four-star characters on both their banners.
Then in Phase 2 of version 7.0, the Genshin Impact banners are reruns of Flins and Ineffa, running from September 1 to September 22 (dates TBC).
Genshin Impact 7.0 events
As well as the Overflowing Abundance double-drop period (September 14 – 21), there are three events in version 7.0 of Genshin Impact.
Mutual Aid in Bloom: Into the Frostlands
Participate in mini-game challenges to collect Katheryne statue parts and build different images of her in various styles. These statues can then be placed in your Serenitea Pot. Excess statue parts can be put in a storage device to share with other players. Rewards include Primogems and level-up materials, with the event running from August 12 to 24.
Great Expeditionist Challenge
A tournament hosted by the Adventurers’ Guild in Snezhnaya. It involves challenges such as piloting trains through Snezhnaya’s tumultuous weather, putting your new guns to use with target practice, puzzles, mini-games, and regular combat domains.
As well as the usual rewards like Primogems and Crowns of Insight, Great Expeditionist Challenge rewards a free copy of Diona, with the event running from August 28 to September 14.
Trial of the Bastion
This patch’s combat event is a little different, as it involves firearm challenges created by other players in the Shadow Realm. Rewards include Primogems and level-up materials, with the event running from September 7 to 17.
What is new in version 7.0?
The huge Genshin Impact 7.0 update includes:
- Snezhnaya region
- Two new Archon Quests in Snezhnaya
- Complete within 7.0 for Odette’s Asension materials and Primogems
- Free Alyosha character for completing first Archon Quest
- New outfit for the Traveler, Night Hunt in Snow

- Prime Ice Construct mechanic to help explore Snezhnaya
- Includes portable heat sources and a canon to launch you across large distances
- Train travel system with crafting bench for customizing firearms inside, and Prime Ice Communicator to claim daily commissions
- New bosses, Immortal Construct and Chimeric Winged Lion
- To Temper Thyself and Journey Far update
- New characters added
- Envisaged Echoes for Tartaglia and Xiao
- New TCG cards, including Durin, Jahoda, and Hydro Hypostasis
