Global Unrest and India’s Stability
Today’s world is confronting an unprecedented and complex situation. Global unrest caused by the flames of war in the Russia-Ukraine and Middle East regions, severe economic recession gripping many developed nations, food grain shortages, and disrupted global supply chains—all these factors have made daily life unbearable for ordinary citizens in many countries. While chaos prevails across the globe for basic daily needs and security, the social peace, economic stability, and internal harmony demonstrated by India are truly commendable. However, the real alarm bell rings when selfish elements and irresponsible leadership poison society with discontent, far surpassing the challenges imposed by nature or circumstances.
Comparing Global Reality with India
When compared to the grim global situation, India’s current reality and stability become even more evident. Inflation has reached record highs in several countries across Europe and Asia, leading to severe food shortages. In contrast, India possesses sufficient food reserves and has successfully maintained a smooth supply of food grains to every section of society through various welfare schemes. While leading global powerhouses and major economies are trapped in recession facing severe employment crises, India continues to stand firm as the world’s fastest-growing stable economy. Amidst clouds of war, political instability, and social violence triggered by refugee crises worldwide, India’s internal peace—despite its vast diversity—remains a major strength.
Political Self-Interest and Atmosphere of Fear
However, this peace and social harmony are an eyesore to certain selfish elements. Nature sometimes inflicts droughts and at other times brings heavy downpours; these are forms of natural challenges beyond human control. The true test of human intellect and collective strength occurs during such tough times. Unfortunately, certain political leaders and self-serving entities in the country are instigating fear in society merely for short-term political gains. Raising continuous doubts about the credibility of constitutional institutions, creating false fears of basic necessity shortages, and unnecessarily spreading discontent in society has become their single-point agenda.
Shastri Ji’s Lesson of Courage and Patience
During such testing times, one is strongly reminded of India’s former Prime Minister, the ‘True Gem of India,’ the late Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji. Around 1965, India faced the threat of war on one side and a severe drought crisis on the other. Yet, even in such dire circumstances, Shastri Ji did not lose heart and exhibited extraordinary courage and restraint. He guided the nation not just with words, but through his own actions. Facing an acute shortage of food grains, he appealed to the citizens to fast once a week, but started the practice in his own home first. The entire nation responded to Shastri Ji’s call with immense respect and unity. Shastri Ji proved that no matter how big the crisis, if the leadership is honest and the people possess mutual understanding and patience, a nation can emerge stronger from any storm. Leaders who guide the public through thought and action remain immortal. Today as well, we need to preserve Shastri Ji’s legacy of courage and patience rather than falling for those spreading political discontent.
Propaganda and Social Risks
Adding to the issue, certain self-proclaimed astrologers, analysts, and intellectuals are misusing their knowledge to sow despair among the public. If fear, doubt, and mistrust are instilled in people’s minds long before a natural calamity or drought actually arrives, it proves far more dangerous than the crisis itself. If social unrest breaks out prior to the crisis, administrative machinery will collapse, making mutual assistance impossible when the real need arises. If we fight among ourselves and unravel the fabric of trust, human discontent will make life unbearable well before natural challenges do.
Mutual Understanding and Civic Duty
Historically, India’s greatest strength has been ‘Unity in Diversity’ and ‘Mutual Understanding.’ No matter how severe or critical a crisis is, if the public and administration work hand in hand, no disaster is impossible to overcome. In today’s context, not blindly believing misleading news or alarming propaganda is the foremost duty of an enlightened citizen. Preserving human empathy during crises like drought, extending a helping hand to one another, and maintaining peace in society is true national service.
Patient Leadership and Preservation of Peace
The government and administration must also act with utmost restraint and transparency to unmask propaganda that poisons society and frightens the public. Compared to global turmoil, India’s position today is significantly better and safer. Preserving this stability and harmony is not just the government’s responsibility, but the moral duty of every citizen. Without falling prey to misinformation, we can confidently face every coming challenge on the strength of patience, wisdom, and mutual understanding.
